Value Magazine

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

Ok… If you’re like me, you might think that we have to figure out a way to make sustainability profitable in order to make the kind of progress we need to make quickly enough for the Earth’s climate and ecosystems to exist as we know them in the future.

If you agree with that, then you might be interested in this - Value Magazine (http://www.valuenewsnetwork.com/). It’s new and it’s focused on how companies can increase value for society and the planet, and not just material wealth. There are some fascinating articles on the home page.

Climate change

So apparently, there’s no PAC (Political Action Committee) dedicated to getting candidates that support a sane energy/climate policy elected to office. There are several enviro PACs, but the candidate would have to agree with you on all sorts of other issues and being labeled a tree hugger could get you killed in many districts.

Anyone want to create one with me? Know any wealthy donors and/or a web programmer that would donate their time?

While I’ve been focused on this issue for quite a while, this ABC story helped to crystalize it for me - http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/StateOfTheUnion/story?id=1565837.
